Do you feel that you struggle when it comes to achieving your health goals? Well we don’t blame you! So do we! Achieving health related goals can be incredibly difficult in our busy lives and especially difficult when society has made it incredibly easy and socially acceptable to live unhealthy lives. Sticking to goals themselves can also be a challenge as we live in world where we can get everything instantly, right when we want it. If you want a movie, stream it. If you want food, cook it or go buy it. If you want a new dress, run down to the shops. If you need an appointment, you book one that suits you. If you want to listen to a song, open your YouTube app. You get my point.
Except now you don’t have to fret as Thinco has got your back (don’t we always). We have searched the Internet to find the top tips to help you achieve your health goals. We gave them a try and found all of them incredibly useful so… give it a go.
Find Your Motivation
Whatever your health related goal may be, there must be some motivation behind it. For example, if your health goal is to lose some weight, what is your motivation? Do you want to better your overall health? Improve your skin? Look better in clothes? Look better naked? Feel more energetic? You need to get clear on what you want and then use that to inspire you throughout your journey.
SMART goals
You may remember this term from school and funnily enough they actually work! Goals overall are important as they assist in measuring progress, if you’re not to sure where you want to end up, you won’t get there. Smart goals are goals that are specific, measureable, attainable, realistic and timely. For example, a SMART goal would be “I will go to the 3 days a week for 30 minutes each session for the next month”. Setting smaller goals in preparation for your larger goal will help you get there with more ease.
Pace Yourself
Whatever your goal may be; you must pace yourself. There is no point exhausting yourself straight away, as it is more than likely that you will give up. If you want to improve your heart health, you don’t have to completely change your foods and exercising insanely in the first week. Set yourself some SMART goals and pace yourself to ensure long-lasting changes.
Get Some Support
Having support is always going to be helpful. Sometimes our own mind just isn’t enough and unfortunately, we can be a little bit too easy of on ourselves. If you want to improve your fitness, hire a personal trainer or get a gym buddy. This will help you in actually turning up for the session as you are also impacting other people’s time. If you do decide to use a personal trainer, you also have the money you spent as a motivator to go to the sessions.
Be Prepared for Mistakes
So just in case you weren’t aware… YOU ARE HUMAN. And that means that you are not perfect and you are going to make mistakes sometimes and that is fine. Regardless of your health related goal there are going to be lazy days and unmotivated days. Allow yourself some of these so that you don’t burn yourself out. Same goes if you are trying to lose weight, at some point you are going to eat an unhealthy meal. Just remember that a little stumble in the road doesn’t mean it is the end of your journey. Just pick yourself up and continue moving forward.
