As we all know, there is no doubt that a salad is a healthy addition to a balanced diet. However, most store-bought salad dressings are not so healthy as they are brimming with added sugar, preservatives, and artificial flavorings that can diminish the potential health benefits of your salad. Making your own salad dressing at home is an easy and cost-effective alternative to store-bought varieties. Furthermore, it can give you better control of what you’re putting on your plate. So, just because we love you all… here are 7 healthy salad dressing recipes. 

Oil-Free Zesty Tahini Salad Dressing 

Ingredients: 

  • ¼ cup tahini 
  • ¼ cup apple cider vinegar 
  • ¼ cup lemon juice 
  • ¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce 
  • ½ cup nutritional yeast 
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic 

Method: 

  1. Add all ingredients into a blender and blend until combined. 

Cilantro Lime Dressing 

Ingredients: 

  • ½ cup olive oil extra virgin 
  • ¼ cup cilantro, finely chopped 
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice 
  • 2 tablespoons honey 
  • ¼ teaspoon paprika 
  • Pinch of salt 

Method: 

  1. Add ingredients to a mason jar and shake vigorously until well mixed. Alternatively, you can add ingredients to a small food processor or high-speed blender and blend for 20-30 seconds. 
  2. Store cilantro lime dressing in refrigerator for up to one week between servings. 

Sesame Ginger Dressing 

Ingredients: 

  • 1-tablespoon olive oil 
  • 1-tablespoon sesame oil 
  • 1-tablespoon soy sauce 
  • 1-tablespoon maple syrup 
  • 1-tablespoon rice vinegar 
  • 1 clove minced garlic 
  • 1-teaspoon freshly minced ginger 

Method: 

  1. Whisk together the olive oil, sesame oil, soy sauce, maple syrup and rice vinegar. 
  2. Add the minced garlic and ginger and stir together until combined. 

Balsamic Vinaigrette 

Ingredients: 

  • 3 tablespoons balsamic vinegar 
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard 
  • 1 clove minced garlic 
  • ½ cup olive oil 
  • Salt and pepper 

Method: 

  1. Combine the balsamic vinegar with the Dijon mustard and minced garlic. 
  2. Slowly add the olive oil while continuing to stir the mixture. 
  3. Season with a bit of salt and pepper prior to serving to give the flavor a quick boost. 

Creamy French Dressing 

Ingredients: 

  • 6-tablespoon olive oil 
  • 2 tablespoon red wine vinegar 
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard 
  • ¼ clove garlic
  • Salt and pepper to taste 

Method: 

  • Place all ingredients in a small jar and shake until well combined. 

Italian Dressing 

Ingredients: 

  • ¼ cup canola oil
  • ¼ cup white wine vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons honey 
  • 1-tablespoon Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning 
  • 1-teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced 
  • Salt and pepper 

Method: 

  • Place all ingredients in a small jar and shake until well combined. 

Avocado Lime Dressing 

Ingredients: 

  • Avocado, cut into small chunks 
  • ½ Cup plain Greek yogurt 
  • 1/3-cup cilantro 
  • ¼ cup lime juice 
  • 4-tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves minced garlic
  • Salt and pepper

Method: 

  1. Add the avocado chunks to a food processor along with the Greek yogurt, cilantro, limejuice, olive oil and minced garlic. 
  2. Top with a bit of salt and pepper and then pulse until the mixture reaches a smooth, thick consistency
