Unfortunately, there is no such thing as one-size-fits-all when it comes to skincare routines. However what you put into your body can have a massive impact on your skin so it is important that you are eating the right foods to achieve your skin goals.
There is a ridiculous amount of options available nowadays when it comes to skin care, you have serums, cleaners, toners, scrubs, moisturizers, moisturizers for specific areas of the face, the list goes on and on. We seem to put a lot of time, effort and money on what products make our skin beautiful on the outside but not much thought into what we could be doing from the outside.
Therefore we scoped the Internet to see which foods are best for glowing skin and gave them a try and you just have to jump on this bandwagon!
Acai Berry
You have probably heard of Acai bowls in the past year or so as Instagrammers everywhere were eating them! And maybe now we know why… these berries help your skin maintain it’s elasticity whilst also providing antioxidants to help with anti-aging and supplying vitamin E to keep your skin rejuvenated.
Chia Seeds
These tiny little seeds are full of omega-3 fatty acids, which will protect your skin from unwanted bacteria. The best thing about chia seeds is they are incredibly easy to incorporate into your meals, they can litter go anywhere. Add them into your smoothies, your salads, as a garnish or literally just into any dish you are eating!
Avocados
We all love a good smashed avocado on toast with some poached eggs and although smashed avocado is breaking my bank account at least now I have a reason to keep doing it! When it comes to avocados and skin care it helps when you ingest it and when you directly apply it to your skin. Avocadoes are a great source of antioxidants, fatty acids, Vitamin C and Vitamin E. All of these ingredients help prevent sun damage, supplement the production of collagen and prevent visible signs of aging.
Oatmeal
This super food works best when directly applied to your skin. Oatmeal works wonders on your skin while also working as a lightening agent, a moisturizer and fighting to prevent acne. Gosh, who would’ve though?!
Spinach
Spinach is packed with various important vitamins such as Vitamin A, C, E and K. Spinach helps to improve your complexion, combat aging and increases the growth of skin cells. You can easily incorporate this vegetable into your diet by adding it into your smoothies, salads or even pasta sauces!
Turmeric
Turmeric is probably the best super food for glowing skin as it helps to heal your skin therefore you can use it as a topical treatment to treat acne scaring and psoriasis in addition to healing any wounds you may have. Turmeric teas are worth trying or simply try making a more conscious effort to include turmeric in your cooking.
Quinoa
Quinoa has various health benefits and also does wonders for your skin! By eating more quinoa you can treat acne and pigmentation problems and by applying quinoa to your face you have a natural exfoliate.
Egg Whites
Egg white face masks are rather popular within the world of beauty as they are not only protein packed but are very well-known for their pore-shrinking properties. Simply mix some egg whites with lemon juice and apply to your face, you will feel the difference immediately! We do admit this one was weird for us too but we absolutely loved it!
