Eating a healthy and well balanced diet can be incredibly difficult, especially if you are not a fan of fruits, vegetables, lean proteins and whole grains. However, we don’t want you to stress about this. There are some small steps you can take to get on the road to a healthier lifestyle.

Long lasting changes is all about slowing incorporating healthy until they become an unconscious way of life. If you are wanting to lose some weight or just make your lifestyle more healthy, you cant throw away the sugar, processed foods and junk all in one go, you need to take baby steps so that your healthy habits become a healthy lifestyle.

Snack on Healthier Alternatives

Instead of opting for the potato chips, sweets or deep fried food, train your body to find satisfaction in fruits and vegetables. It can take some time if you aren’t used to this way of eating but it isn’t impossible. If you are craving something sweet reach for some apple slices with organic peanut butter, if you are craving something tasty and crunchy, push away the bag of chips and grab some celery and carrot sticks with some hummus.

Say Good-bye to Soft Drinks and Juices

This can be an incredibly hard step if you have been drinking sugary drinks for a long period of time, plus we get it… they are very delicious but unfortunately they are not good for your health or your waistline. Replace those drinks with some fruit infused water or even some delicious fruit smoothies. Your body will thank you for it.

Starting Liking Vegetables

Vegetables are an amazing source of minerals, vitamins and fiber, which help you feel fuller for longer. If you aren’t a huge fan of vegetables then start small, remember baby steps are key. Start including a new vegetable side dish twice a week and then before you know it vegetables will become staple in almost every meal.

Save Money, Ditch the Takeaway

Takeaway food is without a doubt delicious but it is certainly not healthy. Now we aren’t saying you can never have takeaway food but remember, the key is to have everything in moderation. Luckily for us, society is increasingly becoming more health conscious therefore there are alternatives for almost every single type of fast food available online. If you want some pizza, opt for a cauliflower-based pizza. If you feel like some Chinese, make it at home with a clean recipe instead. If you feel like Mexican, get your pals together and have a clean Mexican night in.

Get Those Grains Girl

You don’t have to be scared of carbs! There are many grains that are great for your health such as barley, brown rice, buckwheat, couscous, millet, quinoa, wild rice whole oats and whole wheat. It’s also easy to incorporate them into your diet, next time you have a salad throw in some quinoa. If you feel like a pasta dish try using whole-wheat pasta. But remember, you can’t be eating carbs like they are going out of fashion. Moderation is key.
